Date: Sunday, May 22nd Time 1:00 PM Location: AIE Vent
We will be holding our first ever AIE gaming community town hall meeting to discuss with the membership our current standing and future plans for Warcraft, EVE and RIFT. We will also be discussing the new overall structure of the organization and perhaps touch upon future game expansions.
Please note that we will be recording this meeting as we expect to hit the Vent account capacity. We ask players who may be raiding or questing please use an alternate voice communication method while we are holding the meeting.
An agenda will be posted for the meeting so please add topics for discussion in this thread by no later than Saturday, May 21st 12:00 PM EST.
We will be running a very tight schedule for this meeting to keep it from running long. Topics that are not included in the agenda will not be discussed and will be addressed in a future meeting or in a separate forum thread.
We will be holding a brief town hall meeting on Thursday, March 10th, from 10:00 PM to 11:00 PM server time (EST). We will be holding the meeting on the Ventrilo server. Any current plebs and cohorts are welcome to come. We will gather in-game on the Elder Rise in Thunder Bluff.
The agenda is thus:
1. Guild Management announcement. 2. Q & A.
We will add any items that arise before the meeting.
This is an unusual town hall meeting, in that we normally try to hold meetings during down times. This is an experiment on two accounts - can we pull together a town hall meeting in a couple of days? and can we do it during prime time without too much hassle? I apologize in advance for the hassle.
Please post your questions for the Q&A here or mail them to officers@aie-guild.org.
We will attempt again to recorded this meeting, and the recording will be posted publicly. If you have a question but do not wish to be recorded, please submit your question in advance.
Yippee to Alachaas, Sophillea, and Tetsemi! Also, Mollyshot has resumed her duties. Be sure to /wave and congratulate them when you see them around!
Early discussion about Blizzcon
Guild hall was awesome, and we want to do something like that again. We are now entering the planning stages. Stay tuned to the forums.
New Guild Store
We will be selling stuff through the Frogpants store, so keep your eyes open for this in the future.
EVE update
Stigg talked about how much fun we are having. Feel free to talk to any guildie who is playing EVE if you're interested in playing the game.
Discussion of DCUO, Rift, and other gaming universes
Any official presence will take time as we want to make sure the game has staying power. We are not just hopping to the flavor-of-the-month MMO that will fizzle out after 6 months. With that said, please play the games and let us know how much fun they are so we can work with as much info as possible in case we set up an official presence there down the line.
WoW-specific issues
Co-guild elitism
We re-iterated the fact that we are still one united guild. We understand that there are a few perfectly good reasons to request specific co-guilds during runs, however, the majority of the aspects of the guild system can be accomplished without needing to require all members to be in the same co-guild.
GreenWall updates/future additions
Stigg has some new features in the works, but there are no critical issues at the moment. He asked that members submit bugs and ideas via Curseforge.
Podcast pimping in guild chat and selling items on forums
We are fortunate to have a large number of highly talented individuals in the guild. However, it's important to note that AIE is not a caged collection of potential customers. AIE members are here to play and have fun, not to be marketed to constantly. If you would like to announce a new pet project, podcast, or product, please keep your message brief and infrequent.
Submitted Questions:
Is there any update on the third party cross-game social program Scott mentioned at the last townhall?
No word on this yet. The creators will hopefully give us something to test soon.
When might a donation button be placed on the Guild home page - for cash donations. I believe Randy mentioned the possibility of that at one time.
A donation button is coming soonish once we work out the details.
As a Guildie, what is most needed in terms of our participation in the Guild? Many of us want to be a "contribution" but don't know what is needed.
You can contribute to the guild in several ways. The most obvious way to contribute is for older members to set a good example of what it means to be a member of AIE. Other ways include creating events for any guildie to attend, setting up real-life guild meet-ups, and getting involved on the forums.
Now that some guilds are hitting level 16 and the Cash Flow perk (10% loot bonus to the bank), will we be seeing guild repairs activated? I don't really care if there's a daily cap or not, I'd just like to see the cash go for the good of the guildies that put the cash there in the first place.
Yes, when the time is right. Randy has addressed this issue in this post and that one.
During the anniversary party I heard it mentioned on Vent that the Guild would be scheduling more Guild world events. Could you elaborate and possibly give us a rough estimate of what types of events you are talking about and the frequency in which y'all are planning them.
We know of a few events coming down the pipeline in the near future. However, we need you the members to come up with and plan new events. The officers can not head up everything. Keep in mind that members don't need our approval unless you are planning on getting gold or items from people (contests and such).
Question for town hall: Will Randy's new job situation have any impact on AIE as a guild? Specifically will he continue as overall GM?
We are unsure at this time, but if his job situation does affect our guild, we have a plan. It involves toasters.
Recently LFG has been a chat channel and its causing finding a group to become a hassle. is there anyway to moderate it so as to kick people who don't wish to follow the simple rules of an LFG channel or are we stuck with the system because it is an open channel?
It is an open channel, so keep in mind that we can not keep non-guildies out of the channel, unfortunately. While we have and will ban trouble-makers when we can, ultimately, it is difficult to police. If you happen to notice that you have ownership of the channel, feel free to throw an officer moderator status.

We wanted to let our membership know that tonight in an unprecedented show of solidarity, the officers of three of the largest guilds in WoW; Alea Iacta Est, Goonsquad and Taint will be meeting to exchange ideas regarding the announced 600 1000 member player cap recently announced by Mumper now Bashiok regarding the impending 4.0.1 patch.
We will be introducing a new, hard cap of 600 members in a single guild for Cataclysm. This function will go live with patch 4.0.1 and is already live on the beta and PTR's.
As most of you already know, we have supported a soft cap of 500 members in a guild since World of Warcraft launched. We have allowed guilds to exceed the 500 limit up until now since being in a guild really just amounted to ranks and chat channels. With the advent of the new guild system in Cataclysm we are tracking many more things on each individual player in a guild and in order to support that, we need to limit the amount of members to a reasonable level.
The new cap of 600 members is fully supported in the new guild system and that means that everyone will be visible in the ui and able to contribute to all guild functions like experience and reputation gain. We have pulled a large number of statistics to get to the 600 member cap for guilds and we are happy to say that this value covers more than 99.9% of all the active guilds in World of Warcraft.
The small number of guilds that are over the 600 person cap will be able to keep their guilds intact (and fully supported in the new guild system), but they will not be able to add new members until they fall below the 600 member cap.
Folks have decided to meet on 2:30 Saturday in the Pulse Bar Loft at the Marriott and use the Pandora Celtica band-table in the Hyatt as a congregation point throughout the weekend to pick up guild "ID" stickers.
Keep your eye out for the guild tabard Banner at both locations. I'm sure many of us will also be @ the MMO party Saturday, so we'll consider that a secondary gathering place.

Guild Dinner
New guild banner
Looking for guildies wanting to be field reporters at the event
New guild shirt is being designed for Blizzcon. Gerp will be creating the artwork for it.
We are looking at what night would be optimal night and location for the dinner. Considering having it on Thursday night to avoid the post Blizzcon exhaustion.
Gypsygirl and Lanc are working on having a new guild banner produced for this years Blizzcon. Bigger is better.
An announcement was made by Lanctharus for member volunteers to live blog, Twitter, Ustream, record audio and photograph the event for guild members. Please contact Lanctharus if you are interested.
AIE Summer of Love 2010
Gufoni has begun organizing events for this years Summer of Love week. If you have ideas for events please contact him.for inclusion into the schedule. You do not need to be an officer to run a Summer of Love event but if you do need help to not hesitate in aslking an officer for pointers.
Initial planning discussion about the AIE Gaming Community
A lengthy discussion was had about the initial plans and structure of what will become the AIE gaming community. Topics discussed were about why we have decided to take this step. How community may be organized when we go mutli game. The importance of guild culture, meber behavior and expectations. Revamp of the guild charter and policy. The importance of keeping stringent requirements for officers.
Please note that these minutes are still incomplete and more notes will be added.

Now that the officer vacation is over, what did the officers learn and or accomplish from it? Did it do it's job? How so? Is this something the officers think should happen again? If so, what things would you change about the officer vacation?
Seeking to understand the reasoning behind the policies. I had accepted the concept of limiting the guild to Earthen Ring and not splintering the guild with "sister guilds" on other realms. What I would like to understand is this. How does spreading the guild over different game communities and social networks differ from spreading the guild to other realms?
After hearing the announcement of the guild talents I was wondering if any plans or ideas had been discussed as to what we will be doing with the money generated from the talent that gives a percentage of players' earnings to the guild bank. Given the sheer numbers of the guild I'd imagine that we would produce a pretty sizable sum fairly quickly, and the guild rarely uses gold from the bank as is. More frequent raffles maybe?
how do the officers feel about this new influx of people. Just as a new, general observation I have noticed guild chat to be a bit more crude then normal and a lot of people not following the AIE sense of doing things. Looking back, would the officers have done it diffrently?
IF we want to take a leave from the game, how do we do that so we're not kicked out while we're gone?
