Planning for Blizzcon 2010

  • Blizzcon 2010 t-shirt in the works
  • Guild Dinner
  • New guild banner
  • Looking for guildies wanting to be field reporters at the event

New guild shirt is being designed for Blizzcon.  Gerp will be creating the artwork for it.

We are looking at what night would be optimal night and location for the dinner.  Considering having it on Thursday night to avoid the post Blizzcon exhaustion.

Gypsygirl and Lanc are working on having a new guild banner produced for this years Blizzcon.  Bigger is better.

An announcement was made by Lanctharus for member volunteers to live blog, Twitter, Ustream, record audio and photograph the event for guild members.  Please contact Lanctharus if you are interested.

AIE Summer of Love 2010

Gufoni has begun organizing events for this years Summer of Love week.  If you have ideas for events please contact him.for inclusion into the schedule.  You do not need to be an officer to run a Summer of Love event but if you do need help to not hesitate in aslking an officer for pointers.

Initial planning discussion about the AIE Gaming Community

A lengthy discussion was had about the initial plans and structure of what will become the AIE gaming community.  Topics discussed were about why we have decided to take this step.  How community may be organized when we go mutli game.  The importance of guild culture, meber behavior and expectations.  Revamp of the guild charter and policy.  The importance of keeping stringent requirements for officers.

Please note that these minutes are still incomplete and more notes will be added.

Submitted questions:

  1. Now that the officer vacation is over, what did the officers learn and or accomplish from it? Did it do it's job? How so? Is this something the officers think should happen again? If so, what things would you change about the officer vacation?
  2. Seeking to understand the reasoning behind the policies. I had accepted the concept of limiting the guild to Earthen Ring and not splintering the guild with "sister guilds" on other realms. What I would like to understand is this. How does spreading the guild over different game communities and social networks differ from spreading the guild to other realms?
  3. After hearing the announcement of the guild talents I was wondering if any plans or ideas had been discussed as to what we will be doing with the money generated from the talent that gives a percentage of players' earnings to the guild bank. Given the sheer numbers of the guild I'd imagine that we would produce a pretty sizable sum fairly quickly, and the guild rarely uses gold from the bank as is. More frequent raffles maybe?
  4. how do the officers feel about this new influx of people. Just as a new, general observation I have noticed guild chat to be a bit more crude then normal and a lot of people not following the AIE sense of doing things. Looking back, would the officers have done it diffrently?
  5. IF we want to take a leave from the game, how do we do that so we're not
    kicked out while we're gone?

Explaination of meeting structure

There will be a Town Hall style meeting every three (3) weeks. These will operate also as a part of the weekly Officer meetings and will alternate as such, ie rotating Sat/Sun. We reserve the right to use vent for this event, so please plan your raid/group accordingly. The structure of the Town Hall will be in three (3) parts: Announcements, Submitted Questions, and Open Questions. In order to maintain a condusive and orderly meeting, all members will be silenced, save Officers and Moderator, until the time comes for your particular question. At that point, the floor is yours.

COOP Anniversary

April 3rd. Stay tuned for anouncements here and on the community forums.

COOP Pi New Leadership

Congrats to Alachaas, new leader of COOP Pi.

Nerdtacular

We want a large turnout of AIE folks. Please bring your cameras, looking for a photo-op of massive proportions. Again, see the EL forums for additional info.

Blizzcon

Speaking of large turnout, this year mark Oct. 23-24 on your calander. Expect a new banner, again provided by Lanc, a picnic, and lots of fellow Blizz freaks hanging out and having fun. If you are considering going, and able, plan on trying to be online to purchase multiple tickets. Your guildies that may be unable to procure tickets will love you for it. If it is anything like the past 2 years, tickets will be hard to get. Rumor is 125.00, or maybe less. For the all encompasing post on what to expect at Blizzcon, see the aie general communication forum post "So you want to go to Blizzcon?"

Postcards from the Old World

The new podcast brought to you by AIE Guildies Gufoni and Arezzo. This will be a trek across the old world with 2 brand new toons, before the impending Cataclysm hits. Join them and interact with them via the forums to determine where they head next. Suggestions are always welcome at postcardspodcast@gmail.com as well as the general communication forums.

Regional AIE Meet-ups

We want to encourage AIE meet-ups in all regions. We also want to express that, while there are no restrictions we are imposing on these gatherings, please be aware of your demographic. Obviously we have a large, diverse community and want to make sure that both common sense is used and local laws are not violated when interacting with your fellow guildies. But aside from that, have fun and take lots of pictures. If you are unable to head to Blizzcon or Nerdtacular, a regional AIE meet-up might be a bit easier to swing.

Submitted Questions

Sophilia- Explaination of unspoken gchat policies

There really is no unspoken gchat policy. No Macros, No Spam, No Politics, No Drugs, No Name Redacted, No Issues. We don't want to see the endless Mac v PC debate, or other things along that line. Just because you don't SEE someone being disciplined, don't think it is not happening behind the scenes. On the same line, let the Officers do thier jobs. Do not take it upon yourself to self police, take screen shots and send an email to Officers@aie-guild.org if there is an issue, and we will address it.

Arthasia- Minutes from last Town Hall meeting

Molly will post soon.

Coill- Guild outreach to the realm or improving perception of the guild.

Feel free to RP with other people/toons on Earthen Ring. Group with unguilded toons and promote guild culture. Ignore trade chat.

Sophilia- Guild Welcoming Commitee

We don't want to assign a group of people strictly for this purpose, and there are 2 reasons. It adds responsibility to a group of people and it takes away responsibilty from others. As a guild, we all are responsible for welcoming a new member, whether that is saying welcome in gchat upon invitation, or answering questions that some would consider noobish. We all were new invites at one point, and it is everyone's responsibilty to make someone feel at home. You ultimately get out of this guild what you put into it, a wise man once said.

Open Questions

Mentus- How to find an Officer

aielfo channel in game, vent channel The Boiler Room in ventrillo. Don't be afraid to come in the vent channel to ask questions, it is there for that purpose. The only restricted Officer channel is The Officer's Chambers and typically someone has to drag you down into it.

Scoppe- How to deal with cross faction, non-english speaking pugs.

Unfortunately, can only drop group or submit a ticket to a GM if you have issues. Make sure you take screen shots of the incident in question. Remember the guild tag you wear, and try to keep that in mind when wanting to do something "drastic.

Toshiko- Craft Faire

If you are interested, get a hold of Toshiko in game, or on the forums. Also, the Professions forums are the place to look for further information. These always have awesome turn-outs. Let's get this one rolling!

Abovan-New Guild Apparel

Maui is looking to have new items up by the end of April. Ideas were Embroidered Polo Shirts, Horde AIE cuff links, Battle Thongs.

Introduction and explanation of meeting format and rules

State of the guild

How we can improve "public" perception of AIE on Earthen Ring

  • How can we make a concerted effort to improve perception?
  • How can we get the word out to all AIE members to show respect and set a good example even in the face of insults and ignorance?
  • Ahundred positive interactions is ruined by just one bad one.
  • How we as a guild react to complaints.

Are there any plans to update the AIE Call to Arms mod?

Gchat

  • Standardization of policing
  • Wintergrasp announcements in Gchat
  • Discussion about people generally spamming /g for their meet-ups, events, etc. Stuff that's not official Guild business but arranged by individuals sometimes seems to be taking over /g

A note about Blizzard authenticators

  • There has been a lot of misinformation about the Blizzard authentication system so here are the facts.

New AIE podcast

Ventrillo ettiquette

  • Idle timer in Vent

Could you please elaborate on the use of having other guilds posting their achievements and everything on our forums?

New Guild Vault Changes - Please Read - Feb. 24, 2009

There have been significant changes to the administration of the guild bank of alea iacta est.

Use of the guild bank is a privilege of those of COHORT rank (and higher) in the guild. PLEBS cannot withdraw directly from the guild bank, but can deposit to the first four tabs. PLEBS may request items from an officer.
Cohorts have deposit and withdrawal access to the first four tabs. Each tab is subject to a limit of five withdrawals per day. Cohorts may deposit into the fifth tab.

The sixth tab will be accessed by officers only. It and the fifth tab will be for valuable equipment and materials available by request from an officer.

AIE does not require or encourage in-kind donation of goods or gold for withdrawals from the guild bank. It is expected that the guild member will make non-gold deposits during their time in AIE that will even out their "account", but that need not happen at the moment of withdrawal.

All items withdrawn from the guild vault are for use by the character withdrawing them. Withdrawals are-
-Not for one of your alts (log out and log on to your alt to withdraw on that character),
-Not for a friend who might join the guild. Not for your child. Not for your spouse,
-Not to be sold in the Auction House,
-Not for disenchant materials (even if the proposed enchant is for a guildmate)

Armor, weapons, and materials withdrawn should be appropriate for level, skill, class, and profession (within reason). It is acceptablek to take something a few levels ahead of where you currently are, or to withdraw a profession material which you intend to have a guildmate craft for you.

If you see gear in the guild vault that is of extremely low usefullness, but would be better valued as disenchanted, please alert an officer to the name and tab of the item(s). Officers will periodically disenchant weapons and armor in the guild bank and deposit the resultant disenchants.

We the officers of AIE are asking all members to help "police" the guild bank log for questionable transactions as they see fit. Contact the guild officers at officers@aie-guild.org if you spot a gross transgression.

We ask that people consider the value of the item they are depositing, since the number of slots is extremely limited, especially for a guild of our size. Each slot cost ~16g to purchase.

AIE is discouraging deposits of gold into the guild bank. It continues to pile up, and Blizzard seems to have no plans for additional in-game features for guilds which would require purchases. Given the size of our guild, using guild bank gold for member repairs or personal withdrawals is extraordinarily complicated and fraught with potential complication. We have used the guild bank gold in large events, but we'd prefer it not continue to accumulate.

Please use the guild vault! It is our hope that it will become more of a useful tool for paying-forward the help that we've all gotten in this guild.
